Dear Delegates, Sponsors, Parents, and Teachers

Our names are Mina Kim and Alinah Premji and we are proud to serve as secretary-generals for the first iteration of Terry Fox Model United Nations. On behalf of our Secretariat Team, we would be honoured to formally invite you to our first conference, held at Terry Fox Secondary School on November 16th, 2019.

TFMUN will be the first in-school day conference in the whole tri-city area, and will be a platform for students to debate, discuss, and discover. We are proud to hold our conference at Terry Fox Secondary School, Port Coquitlam, where Terry Fox had graduated in 1976. Taking his name and hosting a conference, we will continue on his legacy as the next generation to give hope and opportunities to youth all across the globe. We would also like to greatly acknowledge Port Coquitlam was long protected and inhabited by indigenous people, including the Coast Salish people and the Kwikwetl'em people. We would like to thank the aboriginal people for the land that we reside and study on.

This year at TFMUN, there will be four committees with relevant topics relating to global issues today. From beginner to committees to more advanced committees, there will be a wide variety of committees to choose from. Delegates will be able to discuss in the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee, debate together in the World Health Organization, work collectively to offer a solution in the European Union, and take a stance in the Historical Joint Crisis Committee. Delegates attending this conference will be attending at an affordable cost, in contrast to prices going up in hundreds in Vancouver weekend conferences. Also, delegates in areas such as the Tri-Cities who cannot attend the conferences will be able to gain more experience through TFMUN.
