HJCC

Suez-Canal Crisis

Committee Description

The Historical Joint Crisis Committees are unlike any organized MUN committee. Organized in two diametrically opposed blocs, delegates’ goals are to further the interests of their blocs and individual positions over the interest of the other bloc and delegates instead of reaching common solutions with all other delegates. Fast-paced and unpredictable, the HJCC encompasses a wide range of events from across history and forces delegates to stay on their toes.

The HJCC is run using crisis procedure, which consists of perpetual moderated caucuses and directives instead of organized debate and written resolutions. Delegates interested in HJCC should note that the HJCC is designed for advanced delegates. Although the HJCC accepts delegates from all experience levels, delegates with prior experience in crisis committees will be prioritized for HJCC positions. Position papers are mandatory to ensure that delegates enter the committee with an understanding of the topic and to facilitate high-quality debate.
