SOCHUM was created as a part of the original United Nations plan to address human rights, humanitarian affairs, and social issues and today focuses on the rights of minorities and the marginalized, women’s rights, children’s protection, and fundamental human rights and freedoms.
The Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee is designed for beginner delegates. Position papers are only required for award eligibility.

NAVA KARIMI
Chair
Nava is a grade 11 student at Heritage Woods Secondary School and is thrilled to be the chair of SOCHUM at the very first TFMUN! Nava is extremely excited to meet the delegates and share her love of discussing international issues. Since her very first meeting at her school’s MUN club, Nava discovered she had a hidden love for it. When she isn’t engaging in riveting debates, you can find Nava listening to music, doing last minute homework, catching up on missed sleep, volunteering, and trying out new hobbies like photography, painting, and baking which she always ends up failing at. Nava is looking forward to a day of fun, thought-provoking, engrossing debate that she hopes all delegates enjoy. See you there!
